There are an ever-increasing number of yoga studios in Bath, and some offer more than just your traditional yoga. Find three Bath yoga studios that offer so much more for your wellness practice, including workshops available and prices to attend.
Introduction to yoga
Yoga is an ancient practice that harmonises the mind, body, and spirit, and has played a serious part in the growing, global wellness phenomenon. Originating in India, yoga offers so many benefits, from reducing stress to improving flexibility and enhancing our mental clarity. For many, it has become an essential part of a balanced and healthy lifestyle, including here in Bath, where the city’s wellness culture is the perfect place to get into practicing yoga.
Introduction to different types of yoga
There’s many reasons why yoga is so popular, but I think it’s popularity could be down to how yoga is a versatile practice with various styles that cater to different needs. Bath yoga studios offer a wide range of these practices.
Here’s a list of some of the yoga styles you may find at Bath yoga studios:
- Hatha yoga is ideal for beginners, as it focuses on on basic postures – holding them slightly longer and moving more slowly – along with breathing exercises to build a solid foundation.
- Vinyasa yoga is faster pace, your Bath yoga teacher will guide you to tie your breath to the movement in a flowing sequence, making it perfect for those who enjoy a faster-paced class.
- Yin yoga provides a deeply meditative experience, with long-held poses that target the deep connective tissues, promoting relaxation and flexibility. From the outside it could look boring to some but trust me this class allows people to make it as much of a challenge as they’d like to.
- Power yoga is a powerful style that builds strength and stamina, making it the choice for those seeking a more intense practice. When I was practicing yoga very intensely I would do these classes with ease, but now I only go 1-2 times a week, it’s definitely more of a struggle to keep up!
Understanding these different styles can help you select the type of yoga that aligns with your personal goals and fitness level.
Why I got into yoga
My introduction to yoga came through my mum, who has been a yoga teacher for as long as I can remember. Growing up, my siblings and I found it a bit uncool – probably because it was something our mum did. However, during lockdown, I gave yoga a chance out of curiosity and a need for some kind of routine.
What started as a simple exploration quickly turned into a twice daily practice. I found that yoga not only helped me stay calm but also became a crucial way to move my body and maintain my flexibility during those stressful times. Today, I go through phases with yoga but still try to practice at least once a week, whether it’s at home or at one of my favourite Bath yoga studios. It’s safe to say, yoga in Bath has played a significant role in my discovery of wellness.
How yoga is linked to Bath
Bath’s history is seriously intertwined with wellness, dating back to the 1st century AD when the city was first created and inhabited by the Romans who used the natural hot springs as a thermal spa. The ancient Roman Baths remain today and the bathing can continue in the modern-day spas. This legacy of health and relaxation makes Bath an ideal city for someone looking to explore what the city has to offer, with yoga and wellness activities around every corner.
The city’s serene atmosphere and beautiful surroundings provide the perfect setting for Bath yoga studios, which have flourished here. Today, Bath is home to numerous yoga studios that have many more holistic offerings than just yoga, contributing to the city’s reputation as a wellness destination.
Combining yoga with other wellness practices
Combining yoga with other wellness practices can seriously amp up the benefits of each modality you do, creating a holistic approach to health. In Bath, many yoga studios offer other wellness practices in addition to yoga including:
- Meditation sessions alongside yoga classes, which can deepen mindfulness and promote a sense of inner peace.
- Sound healing, such as gong baths or crystal bowl sessions, can be integrated with yoga to enhance relaxation and emotional balance, using vibrational frequencies to align the body’s energy.
- Massage therapies like Thai yoga massage, often available in Bath yoga studios, complement yoga by relieving muscle tension and improving flexibility.
How to choose the right Bath yoga studio
Selecting the right Bath yoga studio is crucial for ensuring a fulfilling and effective practice. To find the right Bath yoga studio, start by considering the following:
- Variety of classes: Studios with a broad range of styles can provide the flexibility to explore different types of yoga, from restorative sessions to high-energy flows.
- Teacher experience: Look for studios with certified teachers who have extensive training and a teaching style that resonates with you.
- Price: You could buy a class pass which give you a discounted rate per class but have to be used within a certain time before they expire. I’ve included all the costs of drop in classes and class passes below.
- Studio ambience will play a big role in your overall experience. Many Bath yoga studios have social media managers or creative owners so have a stalk of the studio on Instagram before you go to make sure it has the welcoming, serene environment you’re looking for.
Balancing these elements will help you find a yoga studio in Bath that meets all of your needs.
Yoga studios in Bath that offer so much more
Robyn’s Yoga Studio
Robyn’s Yoga Studio is one of my go-to Bath yoga studios. I first attended one of Robyn’s classes years ago when she was teaching at Diane’s Bath Yoga Studio, which has now closed. Since then, visiting her studio on Milsom Street has become a regular habit of mine. Robyn’s studio offers a wide variety of daily yoga classes, from yin yoga to a 45-minute wake-up power class every weekday morning which is one of my favourite yoga classes in Bath.
Beyond yoga: extra offerings
But this Bath yoga studio offers more than just yoga. You can also experience Thai yoga massage, join her beautiful retreats in Portugal (the next one is in May 2025), or participate in a yoga supper club at the nearby Bath Coppa Club. Also, the studio hosts regular crystal bowl and gong bath sessions. For the die-hard yogis, there’s even the option to pursue teacher training here, which I would love to do one day!
The price
Yoga classes are £12 each, ten class passes are £100 but if you’re a student you can grab a monthly membership for only £72. Workshops cost about £20-40 depending on the practitioner and length.
Well Bath
The full wellness experience
Located on the rural outskirts of Bath, Well Bath is another standout Bath yoga studio offering such an impressive range of holistic services. Beyond the daily weekday yoga classes, it offers an array of wellness practices, including angel card readings, psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, day retreats, acupressure massage, cupping, acupuncture, holistic massage, kinesiology, sound healing, and more. If you’re looking for a comprehensive wellness experience, Well Bath is a great place to start.

The Space
New Bath yoga studio
The Space is another Bath yoga studio that offers a holistic approach to wellness. Founded by Chloe, who I first met at one of Robyn’s classes, The Space has grown into a beautiful studio offering more than just yoga. The weekly schedule includes yoga, Pilates, mat barre, and a monthly restorative class on Sunday nights.
If you have the chance to attend a class taught by Chloe, she has the most incredible teaching style, her way of describing things and making the class feel at ease is magic.
Retreats and masterclasses
Chloe and her team also host weekly masterclasses, allowing you to deepen your practice in various areas. Beyond the studio, The Space offers regular retreats, with upcoming sessions at 42 Acres, Portugal, and Menorca. This Bath yoga studio truly provides a well-rounded experience for those looking to explore more than just yoga.
The prices
Drop-in class prices vary based on length but start at £12 for 45 minutes or £20 for 90 minutes. The Space offers an unlimited membership at £140 and gives a 20% discount to NHS and emergency service workers. There’s also a donation-based class on the last Sunday of every month at 9:30am where you can give what you can to attend.
Exploring Bath’s culture beyond yoga
Bath’s wellness culture extends beyond the yoga mat. The city is home to a variety of spas, wellness retreats, and holistic practices that would beautifully complement your yoga journey. After a session at one of the Bath yoga studios, you could head on over to one of the lovely spas, like the Thermae Bath Spa or the Gainsborough Hotel, where you can soak in the natural hot springs just as the Romans did centuries ago.
For those seeking a more immersive experience, Bath also offers wellness retreats that blend yoga with other healing practices like meditation, sound therapy, and nature walks. Whether it’s a weekend retreat in the countryside at Orchardleigh Estate Retreats or a day of pampering at a local spa, like The Bath Priory, giving yourself the time to enjoy these experiences will help you achieve a deeper state of relaxation and wellbeing, making your visit to Bath even more enriching.
Bath’s yoga is just the beginning of what the city offers for those looking to deepen their wellness journey. From all the different yoga styles and holistic studios to the wholesome wellness culture that exists throughout the city, Bath provides the perfect setting to refresh your mind, body, and spirit.
