Dogs are becoming accepted in more and more restaurants in Bath, making it easier for dog owners to take their pups out when they go to dinner. Here are some of my personal favourites and other great options for dog-friendly restaurants in Bath:
Dog-friendly restaurants in Bath
Eat a Pitta
Bath’s newest and coolest fast food restaurant is a dog-friendly, delicious place to go. Their loaded pittas are filled with incredible falafel, peppers, feta, and green peppers – such insane flavours in every bite.
It’s also a local business, so you’re supporting the community by dining here. Plus, their commitment to quality and flavour makes it a must-visit spot.
Bath Pizza Co
A Bath mainstay, Bath Pizza Co is arguably one of the best pizza spots in Bath with plenty of outdoor seating. This means you don’t have to worry about your pup – they’ll be comfortable and happy.
The staff are really friendly and will help you if you need anything else for your dog. Use your Discovery Card for 15% off your own bill on weekdays between 12-6pm, meaning you can visit for less.
Pieminister
Super dog-friendly and a fun place if you love pies. Pieminister offers a variety of delicious pies, each packed with unique flavours that suit meat eaters and vegetarians. I recommend going on a Sunday so you can get a Sunday Best pie piled high with all the roast trimmings, including a Yorkshire pudding.
Bill’s
Bill’s is so dog-friendly they actually have a dog menu! This is such a thoughtful touch that makes sure your dog can enjoy a treat while you dine.
Best things for owners to look for on the menu are bottomless pancakes between 3-5pm every day (starting at £8.95). It’s a fun way to eat out but trust me, managing more than two portions is a challenge! During the summer holidays, kids can eat free with one adult too, making it a great family-friendly spot.
Dog-friendly pubs in Bath
Locksbrook Inn
Locksbrook Inn is my go-to when family or friends visit with their dogs. They have a huge “proper pub” inside area and a gorgeous pub garden by the river, providing a perfect setting for a relaxed meal or drink.
It’s accessible on foot from town by the river, so you can enjoy a pleasant walk past the Bath Spa Locksbrook Campus to get there. The scenic route makes the journey there as enjoyable as the destination.
You’re best going for a delicious Sunday Roast. While I haven’t been here for a roast since it was taken over by St Austell, it was a standout when it was managed by Bath Pub Co. But I’m sure it still offers a hearty, satisfying meal.
The Boater
Conveniently and centrally located, The Boater has one of the biggest dog-friendly pub gardens in Bath, right by the picturesque weir. It’s a perfect spot for a relaxed outing with your dog.
The food is actually really good, and the heated terrace ensures a cosy dining experience all year round. Whether it’s a sunny day or a chilly evening, the terrace provides comfort and a welcoming atmosphere.
They’ve also just given the terrace a massive overhaul for summer and you can now order pizzas and drinks from the bar on the terrace. This allows you to enjoy your meal without having to leave your dog unattended.
Hall & Woodhouse Bath
One of the only places in Bath with a beautiful roof terrace, Hall & Woodhouse is a dog-friendly spot that becomes a buzzy sun trap on a sunny day. The terrace offers stunning views and an exciting atmosphere.
Dogs are welcomed everywhere in the restaurant except the dining floor, but you can still enjoy a meal in the more casual ground floor or up on the roof terrace. It’s a versatile space perfect for any occasion whether with family, friends or just you and the dog.
The Boathouse
This is the best spot for a pub stop off on your walk, the Boathouse is located down in Newbridge, on the exit towards Newton St Loe. It has a lovely huge garden overlooking the river and a shaded terrace if your dog gets too hot.
As part of the Hall & Woodhouse chain, you can expect the usual drinks on tap and my favourite from when I used to work there, the open-top sandwiches. You just know it’s going to be a reliable choice for a good meal.
Ring o’ Bells
Down in Widcombe, Ring o’ Bells is a great choice for a Sunday Roast. It’s a cosy pub with a friendly atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed meal with your dog.
I’ve only been here once but it got quite busy but they still managed to make space for our table of ten plus two dogs! Everyone loved the roast so it’s great for a family get together.
Quick bites for dog owners in Bath
LEON
Looking for a quick meal on the go or an interlude to your shopping? Leon has you covered with a delicious and pretty nutritious meal. The menu offers a variety of healthy options, perfect for a quick but delicious bite.
There’s an outdoor seating area that overlooks the Bath Abbey, so your pup can enjoy the sights and sounds of the city. It’s a great spot to relax and take in the beautiful surroundings while enjoying your meal.
Even better if you’re a student (or not!), you can usually use LECTURES15 for 15% off your entire order! This makes it a budget-friendly option for a quick and healthy meal.
Beckford’s Bottle Shop
New to me, this boujee bottle shop is the perfect mix of accessible and luxury. You can browse the hundreds of bottles, sit in the restaurant, or cosy up in the snug downstairs. It’s an inviting space that allows dogs, making it ideal for a sophisticated yet relaxed outing.
Dogs are welcome here, so grab some small plates and enjoy the perfect people-watching on Saville Row. The combination of fine wines and a dog-friendly environment makes it a unique and enjoyable experience.
